Worship

Shabbat is always a special time at Congregation Or Chadash. Holiday services and festival observances unite the entire congregation. Beginning the year with a Break-the-Fast after Yom Kippur, we frequently dine together after Shabbat services and festival celebrations. Building the Sukkah is a family event, and on the Shabbat during Hanukah we light our family menorahs together in the sanctuary. Our Jewish year revolves around communal prayer and participation as we join to celebrate the sacred.

Friday Evening Shabbat Services

Shabbat Evening Services at Congregation Or Chadash are lively, warm, and personal. Erev Shabbat services are held on Friday evenings at 6:15 pm.  Services are multi-access both in person and on Zoom. Zoom links are available for members in the weekly email newsletter. All services are family-friendly and are approximately one hour long. We use the Reform Jewish prayer book and services are in both English and Hebrew.

Periodically, we also schedule services with special themes such as a Meditative Shabbat, Camp Shabbat, New and Prospective Member Shabbat, and a Sermon in Song Shabbat.

Saturday Morning Services

Shabbat morning services are held whenever we have a Bar or Bat Mitzvah. These dates can be found on the temple calendar. The service starts at 10:00 a.m. with the Bar or Bat Mitzvah leading the service.

Rabbi Kobey holds Torah study weekly. It is held at 9:30 a.m. if there is no Shabbat morning service. The Torah portion and topics of discussion are listed on our calendar.
