Synagogue Landscape Volunteer Event

Recently the synagogue formed a building committee to enhance the safety as well as the general functioning and aesthetics of the building. It will require continual investment and upkeep to ensure that we have both a functioning and welcoming building for current and future congregants as well as the Little Hands preschool which rents space and provides a key revenue source for our operating budget. As a board, we have begun to plan, prioritize and invest in projects that are required for the upkeep of the building.
As a first step, the committee has created a punch list of items that need to be addressed. Some items have already been completed and you will start to see some changes in the coming days and months. Due to the length of the list, we are calling upon additional volunteers to assist in some light landscaping to improve the entrance and parking areas adjacent to the building. I hope you will consider donating some of your time to help in this endeavor.
Our work will consist mostly of:
Weeding, edging and mulching of the gardens and trees
 Seeding
Power washing of the siding
These tasks are relatively easy but require the hands of many in order to make it manageable. If you’d like to help but are unsure of how to do the above, there will be plenty of people available to guide you.
By volunteering, you can play an active part in making tangible improvements to the building we all care about. It will also improve the aesthetics of what people see as they drive up to our building. New members are the lifeblood of the congregation and this will help to make a great first impression. You will also help defray the cost of what we will have to pay an outside contractor to do. While there are additional projects that will require us to hire contractors, there is a significant amount we can do that doesn’t require a lot of money or skills.
Click here to sign-up. Please complete all the required fields (e.g., available dates, particular areas of interest or skills, tools you can provide etc.) Note, this is not a commitment. At this juncture, we are assessing which dates work best. The 3-hour time slots are just a suggestion. We welcome your whether it’s a 1/2 hour or multiple days.
